Merely a week after his unexpected resignation as head of Sony Computer Entertainment’s studios, Phil Harrison is right back in the industry, joining the ranks of Infogrames, the parent company of Atari for all of you old school gamers out there. In his new position, he will answer directly to the new CEO of Infogrames, David Gardner.

rewrite1.jpgAccording to an article released by Infogrames soon after the hiring, they expect the dual threat of Gardner and Harrison to light a fuse under Atari’s chair and to successfully make Atari one of the big players in the gaming market again.
“This is the perfect time to join Infogrames and help shape the future of Atari - one of the industry’s legendary brands,” Harrison said. He believes that this is a valuable opportunity for him to showcase his talents and create brand new experiences for gamers all over the world and in the process, bringing Atari back as a gaming powerhouse.

Harrison’s new tasks will include him overseeing most of the studio development part of the game design process. He will be in charge of the group as a whole and will also be in charge of boosting the publishing activities of the group. As if that were not enough, InfoGrames has generously given Harrison a seat on the company’s board of directors so he can directly influence just about every decision made by InfoGramers from now on.
