It was made painfully clear that Metal Gear Solid would be the last sequel to the Metal Gear Solid series from Hideo Kojima (the creator) but its been said by konami that Hideo Kojima would not be stopping his career after MGS but there is a new series in the works. The series won’t be released untill the PS3 sales go up in japan because of the usage needed by the game from the console is insufficient at the moment, at the same time Tanaka mentioned MGS Online, that might be something to look forward to as well.

Fans of j-pop and street racing might want to consider getting themselves a Playstation 3 as the extremely well known arcade game, Initial D Arcade Stage 4 is racing to the PS3 as soon as the summer for Japan. An international release has yet to be announced but is expected to follow sometime in the near future.

The primary upgrade to the console version of Initial D will of course be it’s souped up graphic capabilities. The feature that is most exciting and shows most promise is the new online racing mode for the home. Something similar to the “National Tournament” mode found in the arcade version where players can rise in class by successfully beating their online opponents. As you beat opponents and progress in levels, higher skilled opponents and other bonuses will automatically unlock.

Overlord: Scorching on the PS3

Posted on: 27, Feb

The PlayStation 3 is the latest beneficiary of the Codemasters soon to be released Overlord. Better late than never, this should be a relief and a most welcome addition to a PS3 owner’s library. Overlord had mixed reviews on the Xbox 360 last year and it’s strangely violent take on the Pikmin formula was for the most part, well received. The game allows you to take charge as an overlord who strikes fear to its minions.

over.jpgThe best news for PS3 owners who had been waiting more than a year for this release, is that Codemasters will pack all of the downloadable content that had been made available to Xbox 360 owners in the game before it is shipped. That is over 2 months of downloadable content free on the PlayStation 3 version for those cranky PS3 owners.

According to the company’s recent press release, the title will be available this summer and will feature the original game as well as an added expansion pack, which will probably feature all that downloadable content. The PS3 edition will also feature an online co-op mode and enhanced visuals for your viewing pleasure.

The long struggle over format supremacy between Blu-ray and HD-DVD is finally over. Toshiba has officially turned the page on HD-DVD and as of today, has discontinued its development. One of the clear winners because of this turn of events is the PlayStation 3, a heavy supporter of Blu-ray’s cause since the very beginning of its existence. The gaming console/Blu-ray player is expected to see a 10% increase in sales due to this development according to Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter.
This would not come as a shock at all since after all, the PS3 is much more than a Blu-ray player; it is also a very powerful gaming and multimedia system. With the format war officially over and Blu-ray being declared the winner, consumers no longer have to worry about their technology becoming obsolete. In turn, the PS3 has quickly become the clear-cut choice for consumers looking for a cost-effective Blu-ray player as they look forward to the future of HD.

According to a recent article published on GamesIndustry.Biz, the PS3 has reached global sales of 10.5 million units compared to the estimated 1 million installed HD DVD player base. This figure suggests to us that even without including the sales figures of standalone Blu-ray players, this wide margin alone could have been the critical blow that finally pushed HD-DVD into submission. As if that was not enough, 96 percent of the technology sold in Japan during the last quarter of 2007, was Blu-ray.
